Jobs for the Month
April
This is the month for feeding, seeding
and weeding. Start to mow your lawn regularly at a
height of 25mm, when the surface is dry. Never cut
your lawn too short as this reduce its ability to
thrive.
Always keep the blades of the mower sharp and collect
the grass cuttings - cuttings left on the lawn will
cause thatch to build up. Thatch is a common lawn
problem caused by the build up of dead and decaying
grass that acts as barrier between the surface and
the the roots. Thatch can be removed using a scarifier
/ dethatcher and swept up with a lawn sweeper.
Lawncare:
- The ideal time for sowing
grass seeds
- Mow as often as necessary
to keep the grass neat and trim
- Apply a top dressing of
Lawn Sand
- Dethatch lawn
to remove dead moss & control clover
- Feed your lawn with a spring/summer
fertiliser that is high in nitrogen
- Apply weed killer two weeks
after you have fed the lawn - treating the whole
lawn, not just individual weeds.
