A General Guide
to Choosing the right Garden Tractor for You

...specialist
advice should be sought from your local dealer who
can visit your garden to advise on which tractor and
what size of cut is best for you!
Purchasing a Garden Tractor
is a major investment and careful consideration should
be given as to which tractor is right for you. Before
making any decision, you should ask yourself.
- What size area of
grass am I cutting?
- Is this all fine
lawn or are there mixed areas of formal lawn and
paddocks?
- Do I cut my lawn
regularly or do I leave it so that I am always cutting
long grass?
- Have I got restricted
access?
and these are questions that you will want to ask
to one of our 400 plus Specialist Dealers:
1) Will the tractor
work in British Conditions?
Our "Direct collect®" system has been
specifically designed to cope with lush, wet grass
plus the normal damp conditions usually found throughout
the UK. This system eliminates the need for a powered
sweeper. There are no expensive moving parts such
as brushes, bearings, belts and pulleys to regularly
maintain or replace. Wet cuttings are thrown direct
from the blades, without touching the ground, straight
through a large opening into the rear of the tractor,
high into the bag where the grass circulates and is
evenly distributed until the bag is full. When the
bag is full, cuttings will drop to the ground. Some
of our models offer audible warnings or deck cuts
out.
2) Can I remain seated
whilst emptying the grass?
Our "Direct collect®" systems have
grass catchers that allow the operator to empty with
minimal effort from the fully adjustable seat.
3) If I have undulations
in my groung will the grass catcher follow the contours?
With our Direct collect®" fully mounted
collector, it is left to the tractor wheels and floating
cutter deck with its adjustable guiding wheels to
follow the lie of the land for complete grass collection.
4) Can I cut the rough
with the smooth and pick up fallen leaves?
You will be able to cut long paddock or orchard grass
with some of our "Direct collect®" tractors
and when you transfer to formal lawns you can expect
the smoothest finish and be able to tidy up any fallen
leaves. N.B. Always discuss area with you local dealer
to ensure you select the correct model to suit your
needs. Most modes have optional standard grass deflectors
when grass collection is not required.
5) Can I cut grass
without collection?
Our "Direct collect®" grass catcher
can be easily lifted off by one person. An optional
deflector (standard on 404,503,603,604) replaces the
collector allowing the cuttings to be ejected to the
rear eliminating spread over borders or pathways.
N.B. Rear discharge models only.
6) Can I cut close
to walls, fences or borders?
The cutter decks on our "Direct collect®"
tractors are fitted with offset decks on the left
side and overlap both front and rear wheels allowing
close up cutting.
7) Are our tractors
user friendly, comfortable and easy to operate?
Our "Direct collect®" tractors are
compact without compromising on cutting width and,
because the grass collector is easily removed, the
tractor takes up little storage space. Those models
fitted with automatic variable transmissions, hydrostatic
or Autodrive make operation a pleasure. The seats
are comfortable and the controls are minimal and simple.
8) Can I tow and operate
accessories?
All "Direct collect®" tractors with
the exception of the 404 are fitted with a tow baras
standard to tow the full range of Agri-Fab accessories
available. >>see
range
9) What are the safety
features?
All "Direct collect®" tractors have
safety switches on the cutter deck, reverse gear and
the seat. These safety switches cut out the engine
if the operator leaves the seat whilst the tractor
is in motion or if the cutter deck and reverse gear
are selected at the same time.
10) Is extended warranty
available?
All Lawnflite, tractors come with a FREE optional
second year warranty provided the tractor has been
serviced by an authorised dealer within the first
twelve months of purchase. In addition if you choose
a model with a Kohler engine for use in a domestic
application you can benefit from a 5 year engine warranty,
subject to conditions.
