Jobs for the Month
March
Now that Spring is here it's time to
get down to work. Give the lawn a light roll on a
day when there is no frost and the grass is dry on
top. As soon as the ground and weather are suitable,
'top' the grass with the mower blades set high. "Spike"
the lawn with an aerator and "top dress"
with a mixture of sand and peat or sand and Bio Humus.
This is also your last chance to prepare the ground
for sowing grass seed in April.
Lawncare:
- Mid month, rake up all the
surface debris
- Roll, aerate
and top dress the lawn
- Remove large
stones and perennial weeds
- Worms are now active, and
a worm killer should be used
- First cut with the mower
blades set high
The first of the new season should just 'top'
the grass - cutting off too much of the grass could
damage it this early in the season.
