Jobs for the Month
October
The start of the
"autumn clean up". Clear fallen leaves and
put them on the compost heap or in sacks, punctured
with a fork. They will rot down to provide a rich
mulch (leafmould). Getting ready for winter, continue
mowing as long as the weather remains favourable.
Lawncare:
- For the last cut of the
year, simply 'top' the grass.
- Clear fallen leaves from
your lawn, if left they will encourage worm activity
and can cause fungal damage
- Aerate the soil
- Brush or rake in a dressing
of bone meal & sand.
- Lightly mow newly-sown or
newly laid grass, if weather is fineFed
